The Dr. David Sam Legacy Award 2026

Elmhurst University is proud to offer The 2026 Dr. David Sam Legacy Award in recognition of Dr. Sam’s commitment to collaborating with Elmhurst University.

The Dr. David Sam Legacy Award will be awarded to one Elgin Community College student annually. The recipient of the Dr. David Sam Legacy Award will receive a $3,000 scholarship, renewable for 2 years of study. This award may be combined with any merit-based scholarship offered by Elmhurst University.

Eligibility Requirements

The student must be in good academic standing at Elgin Community College to apply.
The student must have applied and been admitted to Elmhurst University.
The student must adhere to all scholarship application requirements and deadlines as set forth below.
The student must be a first-time bachelor’s degree candidate and must plan to be enrolled full-time at Elmhurst University.
The student must submit a 1–2 page, typed essay that describes why academics is important to them, how Elgin Community College has played a role in their education, and discuss any hardships they have overcome to continue their education.
