    Receipt of this form in no way indicates admission in the Teacher Education Program (TEP). Students may not enroll in upper-level education courses (see below) until admitted to the TEP. Application to the TEP requires a minimum overall GPA of 2.75 from all institutions of higher learning. See the Application for Admission to a Teacher Education Program on the University website for application information.

    World Language Education Majors must maintain a major and Overall GPA of 2.75 or higher. Courses must be completed for a grade of C- (1.70) or higher. All educator preparation programs are subject to revisions required by changes from the Illinois State Board of Education. ALL students must complete three full terms [Fall/Spring] at Elmhurst University prior to student teaching and at least half of their Education courses, excluding SEC, 300 450 and student teaching (SEC 457).

    *Completion of the Teaching English Learners Minor is highly recommended. This minor constitutes 4 additional TEL courses and fulfills the coursework requirements for the ESL and Bilingual endorsements.


    World Language Education: French Concentration

    Part of the requirements for earning a Professional Educator License in Illinois at Elmhurst University includes successful completion of specific coursework in the French, which has been aligned with the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Standards for the Preparation of Foreign Language Teachers.

    This French Concentration fulfills requirements for the French Major. French majors must maintain a major GPA of 3.0 or higher and an overall GPA of 2.75 or higher. All courses taken to meet licensure requirements must be completed for a grade of C- (1.70) or higher. All educator preparation programs are subject to revisions required by changes from the Illinois State Board of Education.

    The following coursework constituting 30 semester hours or more must be completed in the World Language Education French Concentration.

    Major consists of a minimum of 7.5 course credits (30 semester hours) at the 300/400 level. Most students will take the following grammar-intensive courses, unless they place out of them.
