Theatre Arts majors must maintain a minimum major GPA of 2.75 or higher and an overall GPA of 2.75 or higher. All courses taken to meet licensure requirements must be completed for a grade of C- (1.70) or higher. All educator preparation programs are subject to revisions required by changes from the Illinois State Board of Education. Theatre Arts majors are strongly encouraged to have at least 18 semester hours in another field, such as English, plus the ISBE area content test so student teaching placements and endorsements can be facilitated. Full-time teaching positions in only Theatre Arts are uncommon and student teachers without an additional endorsement area may have difficulty securing a student teaching placement.
